how to print out the inserts from PlannerPrintsByAndy

one sided, double sided, brochure printing, paper size? It sounds a bit complicated but printing your inserts is actually quite easy.

Please follow the steps below to print out your inserts:

printing on the exact paper size

I always recommend to print the inserts on the paper size for which they have been created for.

Please cut any paper to the desired size before printing.

But, your printer needs to be able to print on odd paper sizes. Normally a printer can print on A4 or US Letter size, but often printers have a manual feed to insert any paper sizes and are then able to print on smaller paper sizes.

Please follow the instructions:

  • open up your PDF in Adobe Acrobat (if you do not have it preinstalled on your computer please follow this link to get it free of charge)
  • double sided:
    * print out your pages double sided with manual action from you, not your double sided printing settings of your printer. I often use this option as I can easily replace any pages which have been printed askew or maybe any pages were wrinkled up by the printer.
► in the print menue please set the format of your print medium to the correct size
    ► use actual size
    ► use "auto" orientation
► insert your paper into your printer
► print the pages with the uneven (or odd) numbers (1,3,5,7....)
► take the stack of paper out of your printer, printed pages facing towards you, remove the first page from your stack
► add one new sheet of paper to the bottom of your stack
► flip the stack so that you can see the unprinted side of your sheets
► then insert your stack into the printer so that the printer can print on the unused side of each page
► use "more options" + "reverse pages"
► print the pages with the even number (2,4,6,8....)
► remove pages from your printer and rearrange the sequence of the pages
  • The same process for double sided printing applies if you want to print out only certain pages of your PDF:
► chose the page numbers in your print settings, for example page 15-23
► then do the same steps as stated above
  • one sided:
    * if you want to print only certain pages of the PDF (only right hand pages for example)
► in the print menue of your computer please set the format of your print medium to the correct size
    ► use actual size
    ► use "auto" orientation
► insert your paper into your printer
► print all the pages or pages with certain uneven (or odd) numbers (3,7,11....) or even numbers (2,6,12…)
► use the even numbers (2,4,6…) for the righthand pages, use the odd numbers (1,3,5...) for lefthand pages

printing on A4 or US Letter sized paper

  • open up your PDF in Adobe Acrobat (if you do not have it preinstalled on your computer please follow this link to get it free of charge)
  • if you like to print out pages double-sided on A4 or US Letter sizes paper kindly use the brochure option
  • if you want to print all pages of the PDF double sided
    * open up the PDF named "double sided"
► in the print menue please set the format of your print medium to A4 or US Letter
    ► use "brochure setting"
► use "both sides" with binding on left side
    ► use landscape orientation
► you can print out certain pages as well but always 4 must be bundled together (for example 1-4 or 5-8)
  • cut marks will be printed
  • to make cutting easier please extend the cut marks with a ruler + pencil and then cut right on the inner side of these lines

attention: printing out for HBxWA5 size

If you have ordered any inserts in HBxWA5 size:

  • the PDFs are set up to be printed on the exact paper size
  • if you print on A4 or US Letter size NO cut marks will be printed, cutting will be more complicated due to the missing cut marks
  • normally printers are able to print on A5 sized paper which is the width of this insert (WA5), so kindly cut the sheets first and then print
  • please follow the above instructions for "printing on exact paper size"

add pencil lines for easier cutting

I would suggest to add light pencil lines to make cutting easier. You can now cut just slightly within the lines to get straight edges.
